Highlights of the Trek:
Nalknad Palace
Nalknad Palace serves as a base for the trekkers which was built in the 17th century just below Tadiandamol peak. Previously it was built to celebrate the victory of Dodda Virarajendra in the battle against Tipu Sultan. This monument is protected and you can stay here while trekking.
Padi Igguthappa Temple
Igguthappa temple at Padi near Kakkabe village is a temple of the celebrated deity of rain and harvest called Igguthappa. It is worshiped by the locals of Kodagu and there are several festivals held here around the year. You can indulge in the mythological beliefs of the folks about the song of the seven hills and get to know them better.
Shola Forest range
Trekking in the tropical forest of Shola range is a gleeful experience for nature lovers with its abundant flora and fauna. Among the grassland you will find several species of beautiful butterflies and reptiles. Your trail is lined with coffee estate and pepper plantation. The green lush forest trees among the rolling grassland in the valley is definitely worth a visit.
View of Evergreen Hills
The stunning view of green valleys and tropical forest of Shola everywhere from the peak of Tadiandamol is precious. The crystal-clear blue sky in the pre-summer months is an additional beauty. The monsoon months bring haze and fog that turns the entire environment misty.
When to Visit:
The trek to Tadiandamol can be equally adventurous and dangerous during peak months of monsoon as the terrain is covered in moss and the trail is slippery. You need to be prepared with the right gears and hiking shoes to take upon this challenge.
The best months to trek in Tadiandamol is from September to February, the post monsoon season when the greenery is flourishing across the Shola Forest. If you want a clear view of the range of hills then you can trek in the pre-summer months when the forest is a mix of green and brown.In Summers trek to Tadiandamol remains close due to the harsh temperature and humid climate promoting forest fires.
Accommodation:
If you wish to stay close to the base of the trek then you have two choices- Kings Cottage and Palace Estate. There are other homestay options available as well but they would be a bit far from the basecamp. You can also stay in the famous hill town of Coorg and travel to the base on your day of trek, which gives you more options of exploring.

Bhagamandala
Bhagamandala is a tourist attraction in itself with its sacred confluence of the three rivers of Kaveri, Kannike and Sujyoti. Many devotees come to Bhagamandala to take a dip in its water stream. Other attractions include Bhagandeshwara temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. If you want to visit Bhagamandala then choose winter months for pleasant weather.
Coorg
Coorg being the famous hill town receives many tourists around the year. Experiencing just the weather of this hill town and enjoying your stay here is enough to get the wholesome experience. Lookout for the marvellous coffee plantation or visit the viewpoints for the stunning views of the landscapes.
Kopatty Trek
Kopatty Trek in the district of Virajpet is close to Tadiandamol trek and can be done consecutively if your hype allows for it. Being a lesser-known trek Kopatty offers many rewards on its trail.
Tips for the Trek:
Trekkers need to take permission with a nominal charge of INR 100 from the check-post on your trail.
Trekkers are allowed to go past the check-post between 6 am to 6 pm. However, the best time to start your hike would be in the early morning so that you are back at the base before evening.
If you are looking for food and water options then Kakkabe is the last reliable option before starting your trek post which you won’t find any. In monsoon season the water streams are safe to refill your water bottles.
The ATM facility is available at Virajpet and Napoklu after that you won’t find any ATM so it is advisable to carry enough cash with you.
The trekking trail is slippery so make sure you invest in a good pair of hiking shoes or you can even get one on rent.
Watch out for the boulders covered in moss while crossing the water streams especially in the monsoon months.
Camping is prohibited at the top of the trek due to the sighting of elephants and other animals.
